After having hunted down, found and killed the men who kidnapped his daughter in the first two Taken movies, former CIA agent Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) goes on the run, accused of murdering his ex-wife and forced to prove his own innocence. Agent Franck Dotlzer (Forest Whitaker) goes in pursuit, while a dangerous criminal threatens Mills’ daughter. Running from the law, Mills does all he can to save his daughter and find out who really killed his ex-wife.

By French director Olivier Megaton, who was also at the helm of the second installment, and is an old hand at big bang action flicks (Transporter 3, Colombiana). The screenplay is not particularly innovative, seeming more of a remake of The Fugitive, except that Harrison Ford has been replaced by Liam Neeson, who tries to channel Bruce Willis. Not much bite, then, but counterbalanced with endless stunts, chases and gun battles. Luckily, Dotzler is played by the excellent Forest Whitaker, the only good surprise in this predicable blockbuster hopeful. An action movie motivated by vengeance instead of emotion, as evidenced by Mills forgetting to cry for his dead wife (Famke Janssen). A plot with no kidnapping, based on an idea by Luc Besson, producer and co-writer of the movie, which seems to (hopefully) close off the trilogy.
